Utrecht, 23 April 2025: The Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF) today announces the translation of the PCAF Standard into Japanese.
Following its launch in November 2021, the PCAF Japan coalition has seen immense growth, capitalizing on the country’s strong financial industry as the fourth-largest economy in the world. There are currently 28 Japanese PCAF signatories who are working to advance the disclosure of the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with their financial activities.
The translation of the PCAF Standard will ensure greater accessibility for signatories in Japan, facilitating deeper engagement and implementation of the Standard and the measuring and disclosing of the GHG emissions related with their financial activities. This will ultimately contribute to a more sustainable Japanese finance industry.
“We are thrilled to see the growing implementation of the PCAF Standard for reporting and disclosing emissions. This has had a positive impact on signatories and wider stakeholders in Japan, and the translation is the next step towards a unified standard for the financial services sector in the region. We look forward to seeing Japan’s financial industry continue to play a key part in driving sustainable finance.”
Tiange Wei, Regional Lead for Asia-Pacific at PCAF
“We are pleased that the Japanese translation of the PCAF Standard has been released, which was(has been?) in high demand from signatories in Japan. This edition will be a major boost to the Japan coalition, where members actively exchange knowledge and discuss its practical implementation. We also hope it will support broader efforts by financial institutions and companies in Japan to measure, disclose, and further advance their approach to financed emissions.”
